Create A Website
By Kendra Bellamy
As technology grows and businesses begin to turn to the internet as their main source of networking, organizations have to start from scratch when setting up their websites. For companies that are not internet savvy they are using programs to start up their websites without taking the time to figure out what would best fit the needs of their establishment.
There are a number of different content management systems (CMS) that can be used but before deciding what system to use one should understand what a CMS is and what it is used for.
What is a Content Management System?
A content management system or CMS is the collection of procedures used to manage work flow in a collaborative environment. These are the systems that are used to control the content that can be released and accessed by users, it allows a large number of people to both view and share data on the website and acts as the central management source of the information displayed on a particular website.
Through the different systems users are able to communicate and view the services provided by a company. One of the most popular website services provided is online drop shipping. GoDaddy, Ebay, and Amazon are considered drop shipping websites because they do not have products in a stocking area but they have a number of sellers and buyers that use the website to purchase different items. The website is the middle man between the two. Sellers use these websites to offer up their products and the consumers are able to browse though inventory and purchase directly from the distributor.
Who Are The 3 Main CMS?
As the topic of content management is further discussed there are three main CMSs that have become very popular amongst website builders. Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal have all helped many companies and individuals to gain internet exposure that help to launch the goods provided. Each of the management systems serve as web start up systems and have different qualifications that have to be met in order to use them.
Wordpress is one of the easier systems to use. This system is used by elite entities such as CNN and The New York Times as a blogging tool. Wordpress is one of the easier ways to start up a website and focuses on allowing consumers to stay connected with a company’s changes and events. This downloadable tool started in 2001 and since then users have continued to use it because it’s free and has a 3-step instructional program that allows users to begin blogging immediately. This tool includes many different features that allow its users to receive feedback, avoid spamming, and many other means but most importantly it allows its users to express themselves freely with “cutting edge” technology.
Joomla and Drupal are another set of content management systems that are often compared with one another and can end up costing its users large amounts of money. These systems are quite different from Wordpress because they have a lot of different licenses and guidelines that they follow. These systems are more difficult and can take time before a website is up in running. There are different templates, code-developers, and many other means that go into using Joomla and Drupal but in the end the websites look more professional than those of Wordpress.
Many say that Joomla is a tool that should be used if one’s website represents smaller businesses and doesn’t mind the more dated tools to use. As for Drupal, its users say that their websites are more professional and are made to fit the specific wants of the company as far as customizing is concerned.
There is so much that goes into the make-up of different websites and each organization has something different to offer its users. For many companies the first impression a consumer receives is through its website so it is important that companies are allowing themselves to be expressed in a positive manner. Each company has to make sure that it does its research on the type of service it offers and which system is most appropriate for them.
