Getting Started is Easier Than You Think
I summed up my talents and found that providing local pet sitting services was fun, and I made great money. I simply created some fliers and business cards and hit up the pet parks with my dog, and I was able to garner many clients. I built a website for my business along the way and after writing the content for it and blogging on it, I realized I loved writing. Then, along came another great venture for me to pursue.

Pitfalls are Your Curriculum
One thing that is very common is some of the pitfalls that you may encounter. But many people look at these the wrong way entirely. Rather, see them as learning steps; they are essential to your success. For example, I ran into pitfalls with my writing business early on by not invoicing properly or tracking work orders, ultimately losing some clients along the way. But I was able to teach myself some simple organization tips, and those pitfalls became valuable lessons for me, as opposed to being something negative.

Management of Your Time and Money is Essential
Leading up to this notion, once you are in business and are making money doing something that you love on your own, time and management/tracking of your money is pivotal to your success. I learned to create folders on my computer for each client as well as daily work orders. Then I simple tackle that to-do list and I am golden

Some Final Words of Inspiration
I wish to leave you with something that should inspire you. I have had my hands in about ten-plus different businesses on my way to being successfully self employed. Along the way, some I started for fun and others out of pure interest. The most important things I learned: Do what you love to do, work very passionately and earnestly, and be positive! In this manner can you easily reap—and enjoy—the fruits of your labors, as have I.
