$1,000, Drew Barrymore, And A Dream Come True

Brian Herzlinger, is a man with a passion for filmmaking, Drew Barrymore, but perhaps most importantly his boyhood aspirations. The film E.T., Herzlinger saw as a child, and was the catalyst that started his story. This film gave rise to Drew Barrymore’s acting career and as well as a boyhood crush that Brian developed on the newly discovered actress. While a dream like this would usually lose fire after a couple years, this continued with him more than two decades later. While his dream of asking the Hollywood star out on a date was nearly impossible and something that most would have given up on, he did not and stuck with it until he got his answer. Now setting out on such a journey is difficult especially when he lives outside her Hollywood lifestyle, so getting in contact with her was nearly unachievable. He began with his friends help and contacts to get him closer to her and was armed with a video camera from Circuit City that he planned on returning before the 30 day expiration date and $1,100 he won off of a game show, in which the winning answer was Drew Barrymore, somewhat of a guiding light in his life.

Upon hearing all of this, the story would seem to end hopelessly, however it ended up satisfying both his dreams: meeting Drew and becoming a filmmaker with a theatrically released film. While setting off was difficult, this did not stop him; the underdog rose to the top as in the end he got his date with Ms. Barrymore. Despite not knowing her or anyone close to her he was able to not let that stop him and reached his goal. Brian was just an everyday, run of the mill guy who had an out there dream; the only thing that made him different from most was that he actually decided to follow his dream. And of course the end to this triumph tale is truly nothing short of awe inspiring. He finally meets his dream girl, and it is everything he imagined. If this story has anything to prove it is this: just go for it. He went after his lifelong dream, had only 1 month to do so, came against unimaginable odds, and puts it all on the line, for that one special thing in life that he wanted, and in the end he got it.
