If W. Mitchell Can Do It, Why Can't You?

After suffering disabling events many people fall victim to the stereotype that those with disabilities are unable to carry on normal lives or serve a purpose but W. Mitchell puts this myth to shame. After suffering paralyzing wounds from a flaming motorcycle accident and a plane crash W. Mitchell defied the odds and has becomes a well-known motivational speaker.

Before becoming an inspirational leader, W. Mitchell served in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a cable-car grip man in San Francisco, California. He lived as a “normal” citizen and had hopes of accomplishing many things before the fatal crashes that left him with burns covering over 60% of his body and a spinal cord injury.

W. Mitchell once stated "Before I was paralyzed, there were 10,000 things I could do. Now there are 9,000. I can either dwell on the 1,000 I lost, or focus on the 9,000 I have left.”

He has taken these unfortunate events and has used them as a source of uplifting. Mitchell travels the world helping individuals to take responsibility for their lives and encourages them to take the negative and make it positive. His speeches involve tips for living a more success life and also advancing in the workforce.

Many organizations have taken his advice and have used his strategies to advance themselves and he has inspired over 30 million people throughout the course of his lectures. His book titled “It’s Not What Happens To You It’s What You Do About It,” has been a success and has helped to tell his story and furthermore focuses on touching the human spirit. Mitchell decided to take his abilities a step forward and became a radio and television host where he made his inspiration more accessible to his listeners.

Today, his accomplishments include founding a $65 million company and being invited to the White House by five Presidents. Mitchell has also been recognized on television and in print by some of the most prominent organizations including: Time Magazine, Today Show, and Good Morning America and has serves as the President of the Global Speakers Federation. He now has offices in Colorado and Australia and resides in Hawaii as well as California.
